Pickling paste sprayable
Description
Slightly viscous mixture made of hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid and their salts.
Intended use
Pickling of sheet metal constructions and welding seams mainly from stainless steel 1.4301, and 1.4571
Suited for
Stainless steel surfaces and welding seams.
Handling
Hand sprayer, pressure sprayer or spray pickling unit.
Advantages
- Reduced acid content
- Reduced NOx emission
- Economic processing due to low viscosity
- Very low material erosion - lower heavy metal load in the waste water
Packaging sizes
Canister (15 and 240 kg) / plastic barrel (240 kg)
General instructions
Please observe the safety data sheet and processing instructions. Exposure times and results are influenced by different factors. Practical tests with sample parts are recommended for determining the optimal parameters.
Preparation
Remove residues of oil, lubricants, welding protection spray, paints and adhesives. If necessary, add colour indicator before use and shake well or stir well with a plastic rod until an even reddish colouring occurs.
Use
Spray with a DERUSTIT low pressure sprayer approx. 2 mm thick.
Exposure time
Between 60 and 240 minutes with an optimal ambient temperature of 22 to 25 °C. Temperature changes of +/-10 °C can halve and / or double the exposure time. By standard an additional passivation is not necessary. However, treatment with DERUSTIT Passivation solution 2016 after pickling and rinsing facilitates the final cleaning.
Further treatment
Rinse workpieces with high preassure water until the effluent is neutral and the surfaces are free from acid. Caution: Use water with hardness < 10° dH in order to minimise water stains and lime residues.
Additional hints
Do not process under heat and direct sunlight.
Consumption
With 1 kg of DERUSTIT Pickling paste sprayable 4022 approx. 4 – 6 m2 surface can be treated.
